Default AEM V2

Im considering getting an AEM V2 intake, im wondering if its any better than stock with a snorkle and spoon filter? Performance?

I guess it will sound better, but does it not suffer from hydrolock.

Given my current mods, would i gain any HP's or torque, any is welcome on the s2k.

Cheers

Performance wouldn't improve by anything more than 1 or 2 horses.
Soundwise is the best you can get inho.

Hydrolock? No. Anyone who says different doesn't have one. The filter sits too high & your bonnet would need to be submerged for the engine to flood. No more risk than the stock intake. Been 1000's of miles with mine inc through continental rainstorms. No problems. I know of one yank who submerged his in a flood. Serves the fccukwit right.

with Ed.

Hopefully will be sticking mine on the car in the next week or so.

Sound is bloody awesome.

Agree on hydrolock issues. Have a good search in the Under The Hood section as there are plenty of threads on this. I've come to the conclusion that it is very rare indeed and if you take one or two simple precautions then the risk is virtually zero.

I have the Injen CAI and it sits in the same place as the AEM V2

Sounds like erm.... a Ducatti on speed!!

Put it this way, E V E R Y O N E turns heads when you floor it!

Ive seen some proof* of good gains on the AEM V2. My view on intakes, and mods on the S in general is that the combinations you use must be well thought out. Signle mods on their own can do very little, but when you piece it all together the work best.

In your case Adman, I notice you dont have any exhaust / tb / decat / ECU type mods. Given that, the AEM would be a good first engine type mod I think, but dont expect wonders. The gears are somewhat irrelevant in this case.

For the money I would go for it

*usual dyno errors apply, but its one that seems to come out good in the US

Is there a sound difference in the AEM V2 and the stock box with lid off?
