Default AEM V2 or K&N 57i G2

Hello guys...

I am loving the S2K but miss the raucous induction of the K&N typhoon on the ATR.

I have been looking at K&N Gen 2 and AEM V2 CAI or TYPHOON??

The AEM or typhoon would appear to be the obvious economical choice for COLD air?

I appreciate this topic has been discussed at length but could you give your opinion and suggest stockist?

My priority is how it sounds without loosing power/creating flat spots

Any opinions?

Many thanks

Both AEM and Gen2 sound good, the AEM is slightly better designed in where it takes it's air from, K&N easier to fit.

Typhoon not worth it imo.

Is there any downside to typhoon?

Is this essentially not a CAI version of the 57i Gen 2?

I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts?

It's just a bit of pipe with a filter on the end, and will get hot. Can't see the point in it really. The same noise can be had from removing the airbox lid. At least the Gen 2 has a box around most of it, and you can use a snorkle to feed it cold air.

Haha, i remember when i had a 57i on an old punto when i was 18, it sounded so good but sat directly on top of the engine - was probably worse for performance

I have a K&N Gen 2 and it sounds awesome, much nicer than just the airbox lid removed plus it has the heat shield.

I've recently returned to S2000 ownership after a 4 year gap and had a K&N Gen II on my last S (MY00). However, I now have a MY99 and according to the K&N site the Gen II only fits MY00 onwards.

I'm struggling to see what difference there is between the two model years that would mean that I couldnt go for the Gen II.

Any ideas?
