remove the filter and you will knacker the engine
I think you mean the air filter box cover
Just unclip it and off you go!

It will make the car pull in more hot air from the engine bay. For a small block highly tuned engine bay this not ideal. You will notice kangarooing if you drive in heavy traffic with the lid on anyway.

It won't do any harm, you engine note will be louder, performance might suffer a bit. Your choice really

i have mine off and on when the mood takes me - for the past week i've been in an off mood

makes it louder but possibly reduces acceleration a tad - fine when moving at speed though

Performance in mine is really bad with the lid off. Leave it on all the time now.

I'm guessing you heard this from the Jenson Button interview in the Sunday papers last week?...... the interviewer obviously didn't understand what JB was on about as it was recounted as "removing the air filter" rather than just taking the airbox lid off

I hope the non S2ki.com S2000 owners out there aren't tempted to remove the filter altogether!

P.S. Its not a bit louder..... its a LOT louder

Any S2 owner should try 'Lid off mode' throughout their ownership! Gives the car a totally different personality!!!! IMO!!

But as alredy stated it does kill a bit of power at take off but it does put a on your face!!!

WARNING: CAN BECOME VERY VERY ADDICTIVE

Try it or you'll never know only takes 30 seconds!!

Before I got the S2 that was the one thing I was really looking forward to trying more than anything, and my god does it sound good!

However it loses a LOT of power IMO, especially top end I found! I was reading a review of the S2000 on the internet and it said by 'removing' the airbox lid was a quick way to see some bhp gains...hmmm

By the way has anyone cleaned their MAF ? As mine seems to be welded on!
