Post Air Filter Upgrades

I just bought my S just three days ago, and have to say how chuffed i am with it (despite having to take it a little easy cos of the greasy roads!!!)

I was wondering if any of you guys have changed the air filter to something like a K & N (or similar) and whether it was worth the effort? I have done this with a previous car (original VX220) and also changed the exhaust, and it made quite a difference to the noise and the performance.

I don't want to go MAD at this stage but thought i might start with a few 'minor' bits to begin with.

Any thoughts or suggestions (and links) would be much appreciated :-)

just take the top of the air box and try out the standard induction kit to start with, i think you'll be impressed with the noise

I'm at this stage too - taken lid off box and don't want to put it back (at least while the weathers cold) .....noise of standard is ample.

I believe this one is recommended too -

Does anyone have any experience of this make ?

I'm not sure whether you can expect anything significant by changing just the filter, but I'd be happy to upgrade to one of these if it was felt they were an improvement on the standard ?

Cheers

Don't expect anything significant in the way of changes from replacing the filter. I had a K&N prior to fitting my PRM intake and couldn't really tell any difference - I bought it mainly because it was cleanable and wouldn't need to be replaced.

It's

The airbox lid off thing is good to try.

But it really just sounds very agricultural.

Get a snorkel CAI that fits into the stock air box & a single Amuse exhaust.

For starters that will be just fine.

Welcome and have a look at my sig for some of the mods!
Most give only minor improvements in the S. Honda have already squeezed most of the power out of it

Most tweaks tend to be handling related.

I have a K&N, it was on the car when I got it. I like it and would put another on if I changed the car.
Though I have seen threads on here suggesting foam versions are better than cloth version like the K&N.
IIRC the stock one is a foam one!

The stock filter is paper, so the only benefit of the upgrade would really be having a cleanable cloth version... maybe giving slightly better flow ?

Tend to agree with LL that the difference in performance is probably negligable.

The only foam one I can think of is the Spoon one but its something like

Over on the US side the opinion is stick with the oe paper filter as it filters better than the K&N and the foam types.
Will see if I can find the thread for you.
