Default Air pump delete kit

Has anyone made their own delete kit? I see you can buy them from the states for $100 odd. Presumably they must just consist of a few bits to fake the correct sensor feedback to the ECU at the point at which voltage is applied to the pump, and for a period thereafter?

Cheers

I tried to look into this recently, and couldn't find much info.

In the end I just bought a used air pump for £20.

Ive made my own, simple blanking plate and other bits.

Hardly a 'production' item but it wasnt hard to do.

Anymore detail on the contents of the kit.

My previous understanding was that tricking the ECU was quite difficult, and the delete kit was just the blank flange to cover the manifold position. Meant that you needed an aftermarket ECU in order to not have a CEL.

Maybe things have moved on, for $100 you'd hope so!

From what I can see, it should a relatively simple job for non-US cars, but nigh on impossible for the US spec wiring/ECU.

At the moment I've blanked mine off but it's the CEL I want to address, so I think I'll take a closer look.

Wayners - did you solve the CEL problem too?

He solved the CEL with a stand alone ecu!

There was a kit sold in the US but the vendor ended up refunding the buyers as the CEL issue couldn't be solved.

It sounds like his original kit worked fine in terms of CEL on the OEM ECU but that was on his JDM cars. On the thread I linked to above he failed to get it working on the US cars due to the differing wiring and ECU programming, and as you say, gave up and issued refunds. I'm not sure which category the UK cars fall in to in this respect.

Interestingly enough, ive not got a CEL and im not running the standalone yet!

I cant give you exact details as to what was done as 50% of it my dad did; we made the blanking plate out of 3mm alluminium.

Just for reference, mines a my99 jdm running a spoon sports ecu and threw a CEL when the air pump went.
