Default Airbox Lid off

Took the airbox lid off for the first time yesterday.

I've been meaning to take the lid off for a while, but kept forgetting. Anyway took the lid off, stuffed it in the boot and started the car...mmmm....no real difference on idle......I know I'll go for a quick blast with the roof down.

I messed my pants , what an awesome sound. I think my fuel bill is going to go through the roof now, I just keep flooring the accelerator and laughing....pedestians think I'm made, driving with a massive grin or laughing my head off.

I've driven it a bit today and had no issues with heat soak at the moment.

The cheapest mod on the plant and just the best sound.

Lovin' it

I have no issues with my lid off, just the filter gets dirty quite quick and heatsoak fcan be an issue in traffic. Luckily I dont get into too much of it.

Great sound, even better with an exhaust system

I only ever tried this once, but could felt a loss in power, so I put the lid back on. I then got a Mugen CAI so it's no longer an option.

I thought it sounded terrible when I tried mine. And I could tell a little bit of a hesitation (or a "loose" in power if you must).

Perhaps if you have fitted (or are planning to fit) a CAI or aftermarket exhaust. the lid off can sound a bit "rough". But no way does it sound "terrible" when compared to the lid on noise ...

Mine is off almost permanently at the moment until I get round to buying a new intake. I can put up with the tiny loss of power for that sound.

I can't believe the loss in power is particularly significant but it was the loss of throttle response that I disliked about airbox lid off.

Still, the induction noise IS a lot better than stock.
