(Alarm)
Hi,
I'm looking to buy and S2k this week if I can. But looking through Autotrader some of them are called Alarm. Does anyone know why? When I've asked the vendors they don't seem to know & the couple of dealers I've asked hadn't heard of it.
Also is it worth while buying the GT? Unfortunately most of my weekly mileage will be commuting on a dual carriageway & I know that our summer's are long and hot so I don't think I'll be doing it with the roof down. Just wondered if there was a noticeable improvement in everyday use with a hard top.
Thanks for any help.

Are you kidding?
Alarm: Means the car has an alarm
The hard top is good, the car looks it's best with it on, it cuts out a lot of noise (useful for motorway journeys for example). It's much cheaper/ easier to buy one with the car as it will already have the necessary fittings, so I would say yes it is worth it, if you think you will use it.

Dunno about the Alarm thing mate
but as for the hard top well............erm.............we don't have one and the car commutes 60m per day in all weathers fine. I think they are a bit of a waste of money why buy a soft top then? ............and all that I am sure some people may disagree and flame me but hey thats my 2p!
really it doesn't rain everyday over here and the heater is great in the S. There is nothing like top down toasty action when there is snow on the ground!! People laugh and stare but all of us on here know better!!

Get a hard top, the car feels so much better in winter, more snug. The inside is much better, the car looksbetter too and feels better as it makes the car more rigid . This debate will run for a while though

Thanks for the advice.
I had a feeling that the alarm may have meant that it had an alarm. But why include it in as if it was part of the name. I thought an alarm was fitted as standard so why advertise the fact.
Anyway, would anyone recommend an AA check on a car bought privately, I'm worried that someone has thrashed this thing to death, plus I'm not good at spotting paint jobs.

Alarm - indicates the car has a Honda Factory fit alarm which is a useful indicator of origin. All UK cars come supplied with Honda alarm but imports from Cyprus or elsewhere may not.
This is the reason as far as I' aware.
Same on Autotrader/Parker price and insurance databases.

Have to agree with Chavman - a hardtop works rather well, and I'd definitely get one if I bought another S. It's important that one has somewhere to store it though.
