Default Alarm?

Ok, just reading some of the Technical info (I can only do a little at a time before my eyes glaze over, its a problem I have with factual information) and it says that EU imports don't have an alarm. Now I've just assumed I have one, bar having a go at breaking into the S, is there any way to find out if I have one?

On my '02 there's sensors on the windscreen...

Try locking/immobilising/alarming the car then open the boot without turning the alarm off (with the key), this should trigger it... caught me out a couple of times... Today in fact!

This isn't looking good then. I can open the boot remotely or with the key, with the car locked.

Open your bonnet - on the left as you look at it there is (or not) a black box, that is the alarm unit

My alarm beeps twice when I arm it. Do you know what this means?

If I dis-arm and re-arm it again it doesn't beep, only on the first time after I finish driving...

Thanks

Lock it up, then open the door with the key and open it. That will set the alarm off if you've got one.

How many times do your lights flash when you remote lock it?

The lights don't flash at all, and I can open the door with the key without a problem. I haven't yet checked for the black box as it was dark when I got up this morning. I'll pop down to the work garage sometime today and have a poke around.

The way I found my old car was alarmed (don't laugh) was I opened the bonnet when the car was locked. Scared the living daylights out of me. I might try that too, still, it was nice to find out I had an alarm.

Just lock it with the key fob, wait a minute and unlock and open the doors with the key.

If you have an alarm it'll go off.

Mine flashes 5 times when locking. (Is this normal)?

It definately goes off when opening the bonnet, as this is when I 1st heard mine.

Looking at my alarm, the wiring is really shabby! Could have wired it better myself!
