Default Alarm sensitivity

OK I've had enough of this now.

Can the 'normal' alarm on a 2002 car be reset to reduce sensitivity to high winds?

Of so, how?

The last dealer I spoke to said it couldn't and I took them at their word. I know, I know.......

However, the alarm is now going off too regularly.

Much as I detest the whole 'neighbour' thing, I couldn't possibly complain if they had a moan about it.

I've got the opporsite problem mine just don't go off properly, if I leave the windows open and set the alarm, give it like 5 minutes to make sure its armed, I can reach in and nothing happens, I can pop the bonnet and nothing happens, the only time it goes off is if you open the boot or door, I don't know where the brains are to the alarm but I know on the siren there isn't any adjustment screws visible.

AE was having a few problems with his alarm going off prematurely / when easily provoked so maybe he can add a little to this?

(Ian I am referring to around the meet in Surrey on 27/12/03 when it went off a couple of times and u said u were going to get it looked at)

Now wonder your alarm is so sensitive, judging by your rage!

G

The answer is a) get a hard top, or b) get it ripped out and get a microwave system or c) turn 'em off as you would with the roof down, 2 clicks of the fob.

My Alarm problem is water related. The interior sensors dont work at all I sat in the car for a LONG LONG few minutes, and waved franticly but it never went off. MarkB said last night that there is a switch somewhere which might be stuck - can someone tell me where?

However, when it rains hard, or sometimes even when it is damp in the morning, the alarm goes off. I reset and get 6 flashes. When i re-arm it beeps as if something isn't shut properly.

I think it might be the bonnet somewhere, as when i use high pressure water to rinse, near the bonnet sometimes the alarm goes off.

Any help on this also would help. I haven't had it looked at yet.

I posted details about 18-months ago, after having similar lack of sensitivity problems. Sadly, quite a few members jumped on me for posting details in a public forum, even though the details were already in the public domain, so I deleted the posting. Yet another reason why I'm an EX-member.
If you really want the details PM me and I'll try to find the photos/details again - but will not repost them here.
However, be advised it is not a ten-minute job and you'll need socket sets to remove part of the car. It is also likely to take you a couple of tries to get the setting satisfactory.
