Point is, there's really no reason for the alloy wheel manufacturers NOT to offer correct offsets: Civic and 'Teg wheels (the proper Rota Replica ones) come with the offset at 40, not 45, which is very close and I can only assume it is for vanity reasons, since the Spoon originals have the correct offset of 45!

Similarly, MOST 17" Hondas use a 55 offset; the Mugen GPs listed for them seem to be +48, which is simply too far adrift. Especially on a 4WS Prelude.

Even the Mugen MF10s for the S2000 came with an offset only 2mm off the Honda ones, so the GPs that replced them are 'worse'. Probably less of a problem on a smooth track, but a PIA on a bumpy British B road!

Hence why I stuck to my Volks CE28N's after 4-5 different sets

Hi guys

Just thought I'd post an update, as I have some new wheels!!!

Thanks to those of you that responded with many helpful replies. I still defend my decision to post this as a new topic, I did plenty of searching before posting this but its never the same as asking a question specific to your conundrum. I think if people don't like someone posting a similar question to one asked previously then don't read the thread? I'm sure it must put new users off asking questions.

Anyway, enough ranting and back to my new wheels I had decided to go for a set of Rota's. However the low offsets they come with worried me and I saw a photo of a car with them on and they seemed to stick out a fair way. This combined with seeing another set of OEM wheels for sale I went back to trying for a set of OEM 17"s. I felt most comfortable in getting a set of these as at least I know the offsets will be spot on.

Well I picked them up yesterday and they're now led out on my bedroom floor waiting for me to get some tyres for them

Thanks again

Dave

Why not go for the newer Volk Racing RE30, it is a better design than the CE28N and is availiable in two offsets for the S2000 as follows, the lower will take a larger front caliper like the spoon 4 pot:

17x 7.5J +43 & 17x 9J +54 (suitable for spoon 4 pot caliper)

17x 7.5J +50 & 17 x9J +63
