Default Alloys - replacing them under the warranty?

I've done a search on here, but still have some questions.
My car is 2000-W reg S2000 with a honda waaranty.
All 4 wheels are badly corroded.

What do I need to do to get my local dealer to say yes to replacing them under the warranty?

And does the warranty need to be transfered into my name (I've just bought this car) or does the warranty mathc to the car not the owner.

thanks, hoping to get the wheels changed asap to make the car perfect

I would think that you have no warranty over the wheels to be honest. the Honda dealer in Worplesdon laughed at me when i asked!

All of mine are very badly corroded and are being stripped and refurbished by Auto Cosmetix in Guildford for

the extended warranty doesn't cover corroded wheels i'm afraid. Its been tried a few times. The extended warranty only covers failure not due to wear and tear, and corroded wheels don't constitute a failure.

Your best bet is to do a search on here on corrded wheels as some people have been successful in getting honda to replace the wheels outside of the warranty period if there VIN number falls within a specified range. Apparantly honda accepts there is a problem within this range.

Firstly, if you purchased the car from a private source with the balance of the Hondacare Guarantee then you need to write to the Administrators to inform them of the transfer and enclose a cheque to cover the admin costs.
Look at item 7.9 on page 2 of the full Terms and Conditions.

Secondly, these are mechanical and electrical guarantees and therefore wheels and bodywork are not covered, as per items 6.4 and 6.5 on page 1.

Hope that helps, welcome to the forum.

I managed to get mine replaced after a lot of arguing. However we had put a claim in about a year and a half before hand (which was rejected at the time) which gave us some leyway.

I've heard stories of Honda doing a replacement under warranty of 5 year old wheels, but I've never seen anything official to substantiate this.

Would they fall under the corrosion guarantee anyway? and isn't that longer?

Just write a nice letter to Honda UK - I did so on a 5 and a half year car and I got an offer of 4 new alloys at cost which I countered for cash to refurb - which I got -

Dave....presumably if you took out the wear and tear clause with the extended warranty, then the wheels would be covered?

Afraid not, the Wear and Tear policy is an add-on to the basic policy and covers items that are covered in the main policy for wear and tear as well as mechanical or electrical failure.

The Wear and Tear policy is also only available to Honda cars when the policy is taken out whilst the car is still in manufacturers warranty so for a 2000 model it would not be likely to have it.
