Default Alpine dash adapter probs

hi all,

i've had this fitted since i got me S in march 04 and occasionally when i flick the volume up or down it will change the track/channel/function rather than actually changing the volume - anyone else had this problem?

i'm not an electronics kind of guy so i'd have to take it to a man to get it fixed i guess - it was hyndland honda that fitted it for me originally.

almost forgot, the mute button has never worked either.

yes, we all have that problem. Are you sure you wired the interupt up to the right wire? I seem to recall that you use a different wire to the most obvious choice (just to make things difficult). My mute doesn't work when the heat builds up from the heating system though.

as i said above mate it was hyndland honda that fitted it for me so i haven't got a clue if my interupt is inserted into the right place...

it's not the end of the world working the way it does but it would be nice if it worked right all the time.

Sorry Billy, read your post far too quickly. Here's a previous post I made regarding the mute connection - I suspect your dealership have not connected it as I suggested

Mines does it too every now and again so don't worry. Its seems to do it when I quickly flick (oooh-er) the volume up a few notches.

FAO Billy (or anyone else having problems with their Alpine interfaces) ...

If the problems persist, you can always have a go with an interface supplied by Countdown (see link in my sig). Mine works fine with my Blaupunkt unit, and they do interfaces for most leading brands of head unit

I always wondered about this but never bothered to post as I thought it was just mine and couldn't be bothered with the hassle of sorting it out, its such a pain to cram everything back in behind the radio when you have to.

Puts me off getting a cd changer as I'd have to go in there again.

Mine does it when cold.

When the heaters have been blasting hot for a while, my mute (interrupt) button doesnt work properly either

Never had the problem with mine!
I "modified" mine to take up less space.
I suspect it is interference on the very long cable from the interface into the 3.5mm socket on the rear.

I'm not so sure Mikey, why would heat exaserbate the problem that Ian and I suffer? I did try insulating the wire once, but no change. It doesn't usually bother me though as its only female passengers and my mate who insist on turning the heating up
