Default Alpine fitting problem - any ideas?

Ok, im a complete novice to car stereo's so please bear with my ignorance while i explain the process i have taken:

1. I bought a Alpine 9812RB
2. I bought a Fitting Adaptor
3. I removed the OEM unit
4. Plugged the Alpine into the adaptor
5. Powered her up

Result = Power to the unit and all functions working correctly, but there is no sound at all through the spreakers. Anybody got any ideas whats wrong?

TIA
Kevin

As far as i am aware i have:

Alpine wire loom to the unit, then the 2 alpine loom plugs into the 2 fitting adaptor plugs, then the fitting adaptor plug into the Honda loom. Ariel into the Alpine ariel wire. Alpine earth bolted to some metal frame.

The only thing i haven't done is run the power(yellow wire) to the battery, due to me being a novice and the bloke who sold my the fitting adaptor saying i can use the existing honda power source through the loom i.e Yellow wire plug into red wire plug. But as i have power i am guessing it is not that.

Hmmm, we're all KCE-865B adapter users. Check the connections again as Rich says. If its connected propely then I'd be concerned that the adapter either isn't suitable for the S2000 loom (unlike as advertised) as the HU wiring is different to the adapter - compare wiring pin diagrams?

Oh, as for the HU, make sure the interal amp is enabled in the setup menu and switch on DEFEAT to see if this makes the speakers fire up (this bascally ignores cusootmer settings and so would identify if a certain setting, such as FADER, has somehow diverted juice from the front speakers)

You havent said that you plugged the speakers in - did you do that?

Also check the volume, and that mute isnt on.

Plugged the speakers into what?

The speakers work when i put the standard unit back into the loom, just not with the alpine plugged in. I have done a master reset on the alpine as well, but still no joy.

IIRC internal amplifier on the 9812RB can be turned off, to improve the signal quality when it's just driving an external amplifier. Might want to check the internal amplifier is turned on.
