Default alpine ida305s Dash Control Problem

a while back i bought this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/PC99-X61-Hon...item6fc4e9275c

its working fine but i cant sort out the dash controls to work.two seperate mechanics have tried but failed.
the last guy that went at it thinks its connected properly but there is a setting in the headunit that has to be enabled in order for the dash controls to work.(he stumbled upon it but got lost again in the ida menu!)

does anyone have any experience of using this adaptor? or know if its possible this is the case? and if so where in the head unit menu can i find it.

i didnt get the manual with it and looked at the pdf on line but am still stumped.

Same problem with my Alpine HU (different model though), and have read similar problems on the forums.

I ended up purchasing a Modrify adapter and it worked first time and been no problem ever since, so it wasn't anything 'faulty' as such.

The PC99-X61 do seem to work with most HU and a few people have had no problems with their Alpine, what makes it an issue with certain ones is beyond me, but I lost interest in trying, and as I said ended up purchasing the much better Modrify option.

It looks like the same thing that you can buy from Halfords. I bought one from Halfords online, but it didn't work with my Alpine unit.
I went to Halfords and told them, and an installation fitter tried it and got the same result as me. He did say that there had been a bad batch through, and ordered a replacement. The replacement works perfectly.

If you got one of the bad batch, I'm not sure what you can do apart from seeing if the seller will replace it?

Disconnect the black box (not relay) completely, then plug it in again.

This seems to 'reset' the interface.

I have the same adaptor with the X305 and it works fine for me.
It could be a duff unit.

iam starting to think that.

iv tried disconnecting and connecting the black box with out success also.
the company i purchased it from on ebay are called liquid ice and are been pretty awakard about me returning it.questioning me as to why its taken 3 months even though iv rang them twice reporting difficulty getting it to work.

i have to download a returns form off their site and include proof i purchased it off them even though the item arrived without a recipt.

they also insist i return it in its packaging.

Im also having the same issue as others here having fitted the x305s yesterday.

I'm really hating the autoleads harness. It's huge, too difficult to integrate fully with the dash controls and has too many bulky bits. The space behind the headunit is limited as is.

Does anyone know of a reliable alternative cable and patch lead that I can source within the UK/EU?

Maybe a stupid question, but would that adaptor from Celsus also work with my S? I'm just about to fit an ida-x100

05 reg with audio controls only on the right of the steering wheel (nothing on the steering wheel/stalk itself.

Sorry, i'm still not up to speed on the whole AP1/2 lingo etc....

Yes, the adaptor should be fine.

The naming for UK cars is all very easy. All UK-bought cars are AP1. Best to refer to them by model year, or "MY"

We have MY99, MY02, MY04, MY06 and MY08 - see the FAQ for all the differences.

UK MY04 and later are often mistakenly referred to as "AP2" as lots of cosmetic changes are the same as those made to to the US version of the car for the MY04 year. Those US cars are "real" AP2s.
