Default Amazing what difference

I purchased a lambda sensor scepticaly from Ebay

Ebay sensor
On Saturday i decided to replace it using J8mie's guide
Thanks J8mie
Firstly jacked up the front of the car, looseded the existing sensor, then tried to undo the connector to the loom, then knoticed a bracket holding the cable to the gear box.
Undid the bolt which allowed the sensor to dangle approx 6 inch below the car, so it made it possible to cut off the old sensor, leaving enough to reconnect if the ebay sensor didnt work.
Attached the crimps to the new sensor, screwed it in, then crinp to the existing wiring.
Takes approx 20 minutes
The difference is amazing, after 200mile the guage showed it still had half a tank, I thought i had buggered the fuel gage, as asually it would be empty, but it still had a a third of a tank, The car has no hesitency in traffic, no more dancing in traffic when accelerating from approx 5mph, then having to slip the clutch. I can now confortable tootle in 6 gear at around 30 mph and gradually accelerate.
I know the s is not about tootling but when you are in traffice you dont half feel a pratt when your car decided to break dance.

Replaced it because the s was suffering High mpg, hesitation, Kangaroo fever, revs dropping off, very little torque on low revs (i know they have little torque anyway but i was unable to let the car roll in first gear without touching the accelerator as it would dance, now it will hapily roll in second)
I replaced it firstly, its cheaper than a MAP sensor, and both have similar symptoms, as they both contribute to the fuelling/air controll.
Definatly worth a try if you have the above problems,
It will only throw a CEL if it has failed, not if it is failing and giving incorrect readings to the ECU,
My S used to always do approx 240 to a tank, and it does again now.
fuel consumption is an issue as i am driving to the Monaco Grand Prix in May so every extra mile is welcome.

Good result.

Mine suffers from really terrible kangarooing in traffic. I haven't tried much to rectify it as yet, but for the price it seems it might be one of the first things to try.

Hmmm interesting, I've noticed mine a little worse than normal over the winter (not usually a problem until summer months) so I might give it a go for the sake of

definatly worth a try chrispayze, the reason i changed mine was the kangarooing in winter, abviously a fuel/air mixture problem especially when i put in new plugs just befor winter, Did help because the old ones were very worn, but the new sensor has cured it

How many miles do you have on your car now?

What strikes me is that the sensor obviously did have a problem...
However it didn't throw a CEL, did it?

Ive only got 40K on the car, but the sensor takes alot of punishment at the end of the manifold, I know a few auto electricians and they recon they go all the time on cars and dont throw a cell, usually on older cars they fail the emissions on the MOT due to incorrect mixture but the s is fairly clean.
