Hi all,
i've bought myself an amp + component speakers in what was intended tobe a modest upgrade to the stock system for a little more volume when the tops down.
However after having a brief look around the car seems like it will be a lot more difficult to install then i first thought!!
Speaker issues - Kenwood 71P's dont fit easily.
The Amp - Vibe VP2 will not go under the seat and will prob need to be run through to the boot
has anyone done an amp/speaker install and would have any hints? (03 model)
if not has anyone in the SE (Surrey area) used any hi-fi shops they would recommend - S2000 is not a common car and would like to take it tto someone whoes done one before.
Cheers!

I'm having an amp fitted (in the boot) and the door speakers replaced next week by Road Radio in Horsham
01403 260090. Speak to Paul...he fitted my rear speakers, head unit and CD changer. He's a top man.
If Horsham is too far then Croydon is full of Car audio places.

The rear speakers are in the panels behind the seats and were done by Road Radio.
Not much room for them but they add the required "Thump" from behind and round the sound off nicely.
You can buy them from the states (panel and speaker kits) but I think they are expensive.
The door speakers / amp are being installed next week but he will call me when all the wires are out so I can "build" the system as it goes in. First thoughts are decent door speakers with a 4 way amp (just in case).
There is choice of adding a sub woofer but it might be too much.

From what i've heard a sub is quite a lot as well. One guy spoke about some 5'' Focals - a pair of those could be fitted, but i'm dubious how well such a small sub would work.
The other option which i like, but expensive... is a footwell sub, with a fiberglass enclosure made.
I tried to install the fronts myself, removed the door, took out the speak and realised that it will need at least a custon mount made, and i'm not sure where to the the passives.
are you using component speakers?
cheers

If you have an 03 model then with a bit of sawing and dremmeling you can get 6.5" speakers in the front. I had ex series polks put in and they make a hell of a difference even with the standard H/u and even better with an Alpine ( god i want it back soon )
Rears are not to difficult to fit your self as long as you take care and make templates from cardboard before hand. Fosgate 4" components fit quite well and give that added punch.
