Default Another Crash

I had a bit of an incident on Sunday night on the A14 just after joining from the M6. Went round the roundabout and onto the A14. Accelerating away from the roundabout (no V-tec I might add) and hit standing water at about 40mph. The back end just stepped out.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the skill or speed to catch it and the end result was a fairly hard collision into the Armco. It then seemed to grip and spun me across both lanes a few times resulting in me going backwards through some trees into a ditch.

Luckily, both myself and wife are unhurt (save for some bruising and shock) and I didn't hit anyone else.

The car looked a complete mess though - major impact damage to the front offside wng, all the way down the driver side, bottom of the rear end of the car and passenger side where I took out some trees. Insurers are looking at it today/tomorrow and will then let me have the good news!!

TBH - it's completely put me off the car and I just think it will be better if it's written off.

Oh well - one of those things I guess.

Im sorry to hear that mate

The S can be such a tricky car to catch sometimes. I nearly lost my last one once and I know what you feel like in terms of loosing your confidence in the car.

At least you're both OK - they're very strong!

Can everyone please stop crashing! I hate to think what my premium will be this year.

Seriously though, unlucky with the accident, main thing is you are ok of course. Would be interesting to know what they offer you for the car.

Thankfully TRW, I have GAP Insurance so not too worried if they write it off. Just imagine what my premium is going to be though!!

Sorry to hear that my friend

But it's good that both you and your wife escaped unscathed.

Good luck

happened to me the first time it rained, after around 1 month of ownership.
just tapped the rear corner on the armco.

my problems was complete unfamiliarity of rwd cars, and a rather agressive camber change on the exit of a roundabout.

that 1 incident has made me uber caution of wet conditions in the S, and only now (2years later) am i feeling a little bit more confident in wetter conditions.
learn from your mistakes, and keep on driving! as alot of people say, the S is very rewarding car to drive.

I still find myself looking through these threads and wondering how many words I'll read until I reach "roundabout".

I wonder what the American equivalent is?

Anyway, sorry to hear of the crash. Glad you got out of it okay.
