Good to see that the thread is not a rant.

I was on a waiting list for a P1 (decided against it when they wouldn't let me test drive the demo car that the reporters had access to!) before I bought my Evo VI.

I remember the BBS at that time (1999-2000?) to be one rant after another. Perhaps I visited at the wrong time and am doing them an injustice! Apologies!

If Scoobys and S2000 owners can be sensible, why can't Bush and Saddam? (Contoversial!!!)

Marc
was the Evo really that good?

Deep down I want one, I wanted one before the S, I now still do. I can`t afford both and I`d hate to sell the S, but who knows in a year or two...

I need to testdrive one, just to get this Evo thing out of my system.

Made my comments the other day

TBH, many scoobynetters are getting a bit peed off with kids and boy racers a) getting ont he site and doing 'Scoob Vs Zonda' and 'Raced a car the other day and whipped it' typre threads and b) scoobs are getting cheap so it's the 'Kevs' car of choice. Thus many of them stay away. Kind of a victim of it's own success that site.

I used to post all the time (maionly in Muppets and NSR) but now just occasionally (never had a scoob and not that interested in them really, only joined as a mate introduced me the the site as he has a scoob & I thought I'd wind him up and then just carried on posting.)

Am I thinking of the wrong car? Those things look really ordinary.

At the risk of getting seriously flamed, I raced an Evo 5 last night and was seriously unimpressed at how much he didn't pull away from me, both in acceleration terms and handling through some fast twisties.

No thanks, I'll with my drop-top beauty.

Ade, the Impreza is indeed a very ordinary looking car, but its performance is anything but ordinary. Even the "bog standard" WRX version is pretty capable, but the souped up STi versions (Subaru's equivalent to BMW's M Division or Mercedes AMG division) are fearsome, especially with the ProDrive Performance Pack added.

The P1 version of the Impreza is the ultimate, and would eat our own chosen steed for breakfast, possibly even without breaking into a sweat

(As much as I admire the handling and performace of both the Scooby and the Evo, the very bland looks of them would put me off, I think.)

My housemate had an Evo VI until recently - the turbo gives it more torque and it was unbelievable around roundabouts - in a different league to the S. But then again, as for looks, comfort, luxury, servicing costs, reliability, roof down posing, general ladykilling etc, the S is streets ahead!

The 22B is the ultimate scooby

To look at, scoobies they're OK-ish as far as those type of cars go (souped up saloons, although some are 3 doors & look better) but they don't have the looks of cars that were designed as sports cars.

Mind you if I had a family or needed the space, I like the Mitsubishi Galant VR4 (Bigger EVO type car with similar/same gear underneath, not quite as quick but looks good and understated with no massive spoilers etc.). Comes in estate too. Nice alternative IMO. Don't like the look of the Legacy mind you.
