Default Another Tyre thread

Hiya guys Ive bought some new wheels and looking for tyres.

Im a massive fan of the toyo r888's but they are stupidly expensive now. I have seen kumho V70a's are about half the price of the toyo's but worried they me be half the performance too!

Has anyone got any feedback about these?

I've done some research on these. Basically if its good enough for the 911 GT3 boys who used to run R888's that'll do me.

I think so !!

Leon was out when I rang this morning.

I dealt with someone else- got some money knocked off so I coughed up. Leon rang back later in the day asking some weird questions. Im guessing he wasnt so happy about the deal I struck with his employee!

So I made a deal whether or not it gets honored is a different matter.

Leon is the sales rep there so don't pay too much attention to him. you've paid your money so its a done deal now.

Ended up getting medium compound fronts and hard compound rears.

Will be interesting with regards to wear and grip levels.

From GranTourismo I think ill need to be carefull with miss matched tyres, hards will take longer to warm up?

It isnt that simple I don't think! There are only very limited choices for the GT3 drivers on 'R' Rated tyres

It is much better to get the same compound all round no matter which tyre you go for, as the fronts will likely now overheat in comparison to the rears. The softer compounds are more suited to autocross and sprints than they are track days, so the usual rule is to go for the harder compound for trackday/road tures. I rate the A048 and newer A050 over the R888. I remember chilled I think ran different compounds front to rear on the A048 as the same compounds could not be sourced, MH compound all round would be best bet on the A048 if you could find them. Get ready for increase road tyre noise from the R tyres they will wine

I had these fitted to my Scooby and they were great fun
