Anthracite and Hankook

Pictures don't really do it justice.
Hankook RS-2 "trackday" tyres:

This is what we like to see: lots of big solid bits of rubber without too many rain channels spoiling the fun.
There seems to be conflicting information on whether these really are trackday tyres. I think they're a bit of an inbetween, which is good because I didn't want a full on cut slick on a road car and having two sets of wheels is a pain.
So what are they like? Well this being August I haven't had much chance to try them in the dry yet
, but on today's damp to drenched roads they were very good, a lot better than the S02s in fact (but that's no suprise). They have softer sidewalls than the Bridgestones, so the turn in isn't quite so sharp, but after I'd been driving a while and got some temperature in them they felt a lot better. I don't know if that's because of the pressure increasing with temperature, because they were still bedding in, or because I just got used to it.What I do notice is the breakaway is a lot more progressive than with the S02s. I'm not one for lurid power sliding, but I was able to provoke it with a lot more confidence, even in partly damp conditions.
So quite good so far. And, entering cheapskate mode once again,
Dave, I love you. You're my Hankook guinea pig
The front tyres were really struggling in the wet conditions today and I will change my tyres later this year (going to try and scrub the tyres to nothing on the next few track days so Lower doesn't convince me to keep the Toyos). If you still give them a thumbs up when I see you at Rockingham next month then I'll buy a set too.

Pretending not to see the more disturbing parts of Craig's reply, they were from Camskill.
I went for 205/55 and 245/45. Visually I think the fronts look wider and the rear looks the same, which fits in with the way the car feels a bit more oversteery and not understeery as you'd think. Damn Bridgestone and their innacurate tyre sizes.

Bump.
The sun finally came out yesterday, and I have to say I'm really impressed with these tyres now.
They're definitely softer, and the car doesn't feel quite so "alive" as it did with Bridgestones, but it seems easier to push hard and you still feel connected to the roads (unlike the Toyos).
And what I initially thought was a slow turn in isn't a factor now they've bedded in.
