anyone gone from an m3 to s2000?
i have an M3 and my girlfriend has an s2000as i've said numerous times, the M3 is the most capable all rounder on the road.
great for touring, hacking and tracking (with a few mods to the brakes!)
the s2000 is far more an involving drivers car.
you'll lose a little in outright grunt and pace but you'll gain just as much in terms of grin factor.
it's not always about speed in terms of having fun.
i think of the s2000 as a civilised elise you can use every day.
Hi
Mine's currently up for sale if the budget could stretch a little bit. Might be room for a bit of negotiation if a there was a quick sale.

2004 (04) Silverstone, Full Red, ONLY 12,800miles,

Under a ton it can. Not stick to the degree that it doesn't lose an inch but stick in terms of you can still see the whites of his eyes in the rear view mirror, i.e. you drop 4-8m from your starting point. Over a ton is where these sorts of cars fook right off. I drove a TT Supra with around 340bhp (rwd, similar weight to M3) and it was hardly any quicker to 90mph or so than the S2000 but it pushed past 100mph and beyond like you wouldn't believe! My 300bhp sti would get completely mugged by it in a high speed drag. You can't argue with outright power once you are over 80-90mph.
The M3 spent years being my dream car and there was many times when I thought I might take the jump and buy one but the reason I never did is because its simply not enough of a performance upgrade (fairly important to me). In fact to 100mph it would be slower than my current car. But the e46 is old now and the game has moved on - pretty much any modern chipped turbo hot-hatch (VXR, ST focus, Cupra R) would be snapping at its heals in a straight line under 100mph. That doesn't mean the M3's bad just that the game slowly moves on. The new V8 M3 will address that and I'll guess it'll be around 10 seconds dead to 100mph.

And if you need more poke, a charger is easy
Had a play with a Z4 with an M badge, (not a beemer fan, so don't know the specs etc), and he didn't seem to be impressed when i eased past him in my chavvie haridressers car.

And very pleased with it!I went with the M3 due to needing a 4 Seater with performance
What the M3 gains in speed I think the S2000 gains in fun.
IMO you have to get to some serious speed to really enjoy the M3, where as you can have loads of fun in the S2000 50-90mph...
I love M3's, but I just prefer lighter, smaller more agile cars.
Perfect combo for me would be:
M3 coupe (manual) - daily drive
111R - weekend toy
As I can't afford both, I'll stick with the S for now!
