Default Anyone Know What Strut Brace This Is?

Hi guys,

I bought my JDM S2000 a few months back and failed to notice this strut brace fitted to it.

Anyone know what it is, the lad who I bought it from said that apparantaly the mods fitted to teh car came accross the water with it, so its possibly Jap.

Its carbon fibre from what I can tell, its super light and hollow. I've not removed it, but it seems to be light by the sound it makes, if you know what I mean.

Its more that likley something cheap and nasty, but with the other mods being Bilistien Coilovers, Mugen Filter and Mugen cat back exhaust, I dont want to throw it away just in case.

Cheers.

Front Uppers are useless anyway

Going by that filter I would guess that it was a Cusco copy.

Why do you say that?

The filter look like it's genuine Mugen.

The strut brace also looks genuine--a Cusco 'fake carbon' wrapped jobby. If it is real it will have Cusco engraved into the brackets.

See the one fitted to Ninebolts car:

Structurally speaking, an addition of a top strut irrespective of quality of material will only stiffen things up.

However nasty the product, i can't see how it will make your car drive worse. I would just leave it on.

The chassis on the S is different to most. It flexes at the bottom, not the top

I'm not commenting on the specific function of the strut on the S. Just a more general comment about how it would not have made things worse.

Obviously weight could be an issue, but it's already stated that it's 'light'.

Nice one guys.

That clears that up .

The filter is a genuine one, or at least an impressive fake....

I didn't think a genuine Mugen filter would have the big gap in it, like the one in the photo.
