Back from the dark side
didn't take me long to get bored with high mpg and lots of torque. Cupra Tdi is getting traded in at the weekend and a tidy VX220 is going to replace it. looked as S2000s again but insurance was a bit high still after the last one met it's demise so the VX with group 17ins and 20K service intervals and decent 30+mpg will make a decent step back in the right direction. Silver with a red rood and red leather, can't wait. A lot more secure on the road than the S2000 but doesn't feel as quick (a bit faster to 60 as it's got great traction but about 3 sec slower to 100) as there's less sensation of speed with less weight to shift about, engine isn't a patch on the honda's though.
Crusoe,
I'd agree on 0-30 S2000 beating times in regular VX but not by 60....
I know what you mean by mpg...was getting a bit bored until recently when fuel went through the roof!! (Golf GT TDi).
As I need more than 2 seats most of the time apart from 7 mile stint to work & back I was longingly looking at the 20+mpg Monaro's (6.0 VXR is almost M5 pace) & American muscle...used of course because of initial 40% drop in 6 months!!!
Only small advice gleaned from one test drive in a VX was take a little container to keep all the little bits that fall off...on the 3000 mile demonstrator I drove,in the space of 20 minutes one heater & one radio knob fell off and the passenger 'dead' pedal worked loose
.
Nice one

yeah, all bare metal eccept the seats, gear leaver and hand brake, dash is just a cross bar with three dials for the heater minor buttons for lights and a radio pluss the stack instruments over the momo wheel. Very minimalist but just about livable. Don't even get sun visors lol and matts are about the only optional extra.
ignore the red ring, getting them to fit turbo seals which keep the water out a bit better but the interior is like this.

offical 0-60 time is around 5.6 - 5.8 sec, probably much easier to achieve in the dry compared to the S anyway, lots of traction (same 225 tyres on the rear as the S but only weighs 850kg and has less power so it's easy to launch) it's not really about acceleration though, way down on power compared to the S but i'm sure it could more than keep up through the twisties in the dry.
