Default Backyard Special

Ordered both sides on the 15th, from Nengun.com £171 each side.
Delivered on the 29th
Fitted both within the hour last night and am VERY happy with the result, I'm 5'11" and it's made a REAL difference to the view and feel of the car.

Although I don't have BYS frames, I've found my lower seating position in the car made a huge difference to the feel and comfort for me. Something that's not always easy at a lofty 6'5"

Need to get hold of these, can't see traffic lights if I'm too close to them - was there any import duty added?

Nope, no additional payment, I was expecting an email to say they were being despatched, and then they just arrived! One of if not the best purchase I've made for the car, aside from wheels/suspension

I considered buying jsut the driver's side frame, but thought what the hell.

Anyway ...highly recomended.

Maybe a daft question but does it simply lower the whole seat or just the base ? I ask because I thought I read somewhere the base lowers leaving the seat back in the same place therefore putting the lumbar support higher up ?

From what I could see of the frame it lowers the entire seat base. It actually becomes really hard ot slide the seats back and forth...not that you need to do that much...I've read elsewhere of peopl putting washers under the two front mounts to lift the front to support the legs more....I'll drive it as is for a while to see if I feel the need to do that.

It's the base that gets lowered and the seat back remains pretty much the same.
I found it suited me better though since the lumbar support sits a bit higher.

Some people have a more comfortable lower back by putting a couple of washers under the front bolts - However, I've been fine with no spacing for a couple of years now. At 6'3" it was the best mod I've made, the 20mm difference feels like you're sitting in the car rather than on it.

Thanks for that, this is what I was worried about, I don't think this will suit me with a higher lumbar support, shame.

I thought that might be a problem, but what happens is the seat 'adjusts' like all the old Honda-height adjusters did; just drops the base.

I needed to use front spacers because of my long legs and was in agony at first.

Interestingly, the height-adjuster on the ND MX-5 simply lifts/drops the front edge, so I guess I'm onto something.
