If I were you I'd be asking if this post could be deleted, then keep your fingers crossed that your car gets pinched and never returns

Sorry to hear about the mess, I'd get onto trading standards about the unnaceptable standard of workmanship of the west midlands garage.

It sounds like the honda dealership shafted you as well, don't be shy these people deserve to be named and shamed!

absolutely..

fixing the chassis and bodywork on an S is a PIA compared to swopping an engine.. a rolling chassis in decent condition must be worth significantly more than 3k.

Hi guys, back from my travels, thanks for keeping the posts coming in, appreciate it. According to my 'mechanic' the third cylinder is running 30lbs less than it should be, so I think you may be right Lower, guess a new engine is in order if I decide to go down that route. Is it the F20C engine I'd be after? One on ebay at the moment, I'll keep my eyes on that one.

As for why I bought an import, I'd run an import FTO for years and had no problems whatsoever and so (naively it would seem) thought I'd be alright with this one as well. Hmmm, learned a lesson I think.... I did get a bit of a steal when I bought it, at least I thought I did, hindsight is a wonderful thing! Prob paid about 10k all in a year ago, but traded mine in part ex with him so difficult to say how much it cost exactly.

Sh*t, I don't know, be gutted if I have to go back to driving family hatchbacks again!
