Battery Problems
hi all, ive been having a few battery issues of recent, this colds probably the final nail in the coffin for it to be honest. the problem im having is the car is a JDM import and the original battery is still on the car, its a 99 ap1. the battery model is "FB High Dash 38b19l-mf" I cant really find an awful lot of info on the battery other than the original manufacturer, but the line of battery is discontinued so leads to a dead end. there is another forum "http://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=1621.0" (my apologies if im not supposed to put other forums up but it sort of explains my problem)this seems to be battery used on other Hondas but not s2000, reading down said topic shows that there as been a few replacements which give slightly more ah and coldcrank upto a max of 40ah (but for the jazz) my question is, eurocarparts are doing for my reg 70ah 540cca battery, are there going to be any adverse effect if I buy this sort of battery and hook it up to my car, does it matter that it will be nearly double the ah and cca, or is this really a no brainer or do I need to match whats already on there as best as I can ?
Jordz,
You need to measure the existing battery and take note of the terminal positions and then have a look on eurocar parts etc to find the correct sized battery.
If i type my reg into eurocar parts it comes up with the incorrect sized battery. I know this because i had this issue before with a company called Tanya who supply batteries. When my battery died last week the local car spares had a 60ah battery and a 45ah battery. They tried to persuade me that the 60ah would be better but the dimension just don't match up. The s2000 has a small battery tray and you cant really go for anything other than the standard size.
This battery from Tanya would fit but you need to check your battery terminal orientations.

I opted for this battery in the end

Fits perfectly in the factory tray and matched my terminal positions.

This is the JDM one I just bought:

HB054 is the Halfords code (which is what I had before), so if you put that in Google you'll find lots of alternatives, though as it turns out that one is smaller and with a lower capacity (35Ah). There shouldn't be a problem with having a larger capacity battery, but unless you like leaving your stereo on you're wasting your money.
Just make sure that it has the small terminals, and that they're the right way round.
