Default Battery problems.....

Dragging up a very old thread here to find out who could help me with this....AP - can you give me more details??

battery problem

My battery keeps randomly failing on me - just going totally dead. It failed a day after i got the car back - but i thought that was fair enough because the car has been off the road for 8 weeks. However, last night i drove 2 hours to get back home, went out to start the car again 20 mins later and the battery was flat.

So it would seem either some of the electrics that were taken out of the car have been wired incorrectly when replaced or the battery is totally dead. How likely is it that the battery could be draining off something that wasn't replaced correctly - i would have thought most of the things are run through plastic connectors that can't really go that wrong. The "indicator" on the battery is at blue (= ok).

The car is going into the dealer tomorrow for them to try and work out what is happening and if the battery is totally shot. Andy, how did you get yours under warranty? what was Honda's attitude to it all etc etc...?

Hi Steve,

After the AA man got me going it became apparent that if I turned the car off it would not be able start again as the battery was not holding charge.
I took the car straight down to my local dealer and showed them the fault. The service manager was very attentive and helpful. Sadly they did not have one in stock but could get one for the next day. I left the car at the dealership overnight and drove away in a hire car. They fitted the new battery and ran a full diagnostics on the car to ensure the alternator etc were all working correctly.
All in all, the dealership were great and sorted the problem out without any problem at all. There must be a dodgy batch of betteries as I have read a few similar stories on here.
Hope this helps.

Do you mean 2.5 years old I see no problem at all, as far as I am concerned, the warranty period is 3 years therefore surely they should honour it. They would be getting short shrift from me if they didn't.
I think the cost of the battery is about

Well, the battery was replaced under warranty so all was fine. Got the clips for the roof done on warranty too - so much better - the roof is now really tight eradicating, all wind noise and the cabin feels so much more insulated.

Think a warranty extension is on the cards!
