Default Being Driven Mad

Hopefully someone has had a similar problem to me with this strange noise i am getting. Now i no its difficults with noise problems to diagnose because you cant hear it on the forum but its driving me mad now. It sounds like its comming from rear passenger side wheel, its not the caliper i have replaced it and its not the pads or rota's as i have changed them as well. now i am worried its the diff or maybe a bearing but as the noise sounds like its on the one side im hoping its not the diff please any idea's would be very helpful.

have you checked oil level in the diff?
does the noise change if you gently apply the handbrake?
is it speed or revs related or neither?

Do you get a crack or pop when you apply power then let off in a jerky manner?

If so it could be the CV joint.

No i havent checked the diff oil, it dosen't change when the hand brake is applied either. Its not revs or speed related and i do not get a crack or a pop so cant be those but might be diff oil is it hard to check i will go get my handbook see what it says it maybe that.

so its a constant noise no matter what speed or gear
does it go if you press the clutch in and coast?

No it dosent go when coasting or when clutch is in, the car drives fine as well no strange feeling in it at all. It could well be the diff oil i was thinking diff all along then maybe bearing. An ex mechanic friend of mine had a quick inspection said he thought it was the disc's were warped and that the pads were rubbing but as i said earlier i changed them its still there. He said he really didnt think it was the bearing. I have just been out and pulled it forward 10ft and the noise was really noticable just crawling along.

Just looked in the book how to check diff oil looks straight forward but i take it best to do it on a lift to keep the car level if i jack it up the level maybe incorrect i take it.

yes but it wont be by much, if your worried drain the diff put the plug back in then add the exact litres rather than trust the fill level plug.
to be honest if its anything rotating it should change in frequency as speed increases, diff usually is only noisy when under load so coasting with clutch in should stop it
it only happens when car is moving
its not rpm related
clutch in or out its there
diven or coasting its there
engine off car coasting or being pushed its there
hand brake on or off makes no difference
