Default Bell Insurance

My 2000 s2000 is completely standard, im 23 with 1 year NCB, i currently pay 1750 (yes thats 6 quid a day) for a 10 month policy.

Called Bell this afternoon to see how much an induction kit and exhaust system would be to insure.

They said it would cost 200 pounds EACH, bringing my total to 2150 for 10 months insurance.

Whats more they dont pay out for it in the event of an accident.... so why the 200 quid extra charge? I cant figure it out.

Now ive gotta keep my car standard untill 2009 and its screaming to be modified.

Any ideas on how I can get out of this one?

I can honestly understand why people do not declare stuff on insurance.

1) Don't mod it - easiest way to "get out of it". If you want to mod, then get a lower risk car.
2) In general, people with mods represent a higher risk than those without, so as you're higher risk, you pay more premium. It's essentially why you pay over 3 times the premium I do, as I am 38 with 13 years NCB - more risk = more premium. There's no reason they should give you something for nothing.

Costs more, because they can get away with it and charge more.

Solution?
Don't take out a 10month bonus accelerator (as you pay 11 months money, for 10 months cover and 1 year NCB).
Don't get insurance with a generic company, go with a specialist.
Do wait until you have several years NCB and are old enough for premiums to drop.

Area you live in makes a big difference.

Edit: Just read Bibbs post - Exactly

No ones mentioned it also depends on how long you have held your licence for too. More experience in their eyes. More Experience driving = Less Risk.
