Default Berk Cat, CEL and MOT

Hi all

I want to change my car (MY05 UK car) up a bit and have bought a Milltek exhaust to fit and am considering adding a Berk sports cat. Obviously will keep these OEM items for refitting should I sell the car.

Questions to those who've done this already: Does the Berk 70mm cat cause a CEL, and does it pass the MOT? How noisy is this Milltek + Berk setup? - I want a bit more tone as stock exhaust is rather flat, but don't want to sound like a heathen, and definitely do not want drone. I know the Milltek is fairly restrained, so just wondering what adding the sports cat does to this setup.

Before fitting the Berk to my MY07 I had an aftermarket CAT which caused a CEL which I had to keep resetting before getting an MOT but since fitting the Berk two years ago I no longer get the CEL because the Berk comes with the spacer already fitted. My car passed its 2nd MOT with the Berk CAT in March with no advisories. As long as you get the engine nice and hot before the MOT you shouldn't have any problems passing the emissions test.

I have a high flow cat, not berk, on a boosted car

It passes MOT if I warm it up no probs and is an issue if I don't

But that car does not get a cel as it has AEM ecu

Basically if you Italian tune up you'll be good, the post cat cel is just telling you your cat is fubar...

Just wondered how you got on with Milltek exhaust? Did you fit the oval tips from OEM exhaust on to Milltek tips? I like the OEM look...

I had a Tegiwa high flow cat on my old S2000 and it didn't throw up any faults but the MOT guy had to rev the tits off the car to get it stinking hot to get it to pass.

They are a Standard Milltek oval or round from factory fitment and look just like Honda

Having it fitted next week, got the Milltek oval exhaust so near perfect replacement for OEM. Will take some pics when done.

Had this fitted and first impressions are good, the exhaust looks nearly like the original. I think the exits are larger diameter, but not overly so, the tips do not protude as much as the OEM tips. The exhaust is louder than stock, especially at low RPM where it has a nice rumble, there's a bit of boominess around 2000rpm, but as the revs rise this quickly disappears. It's not hideously loud however, and I do have the OEM cat still so no power gains or any change to driveability. I will not fit a sports cat, as that would make the car too loud for my tastes.

Bunch of pics here: S2kMiltek

Overall, this is a pretty good replacement for the OEM system, that looks very similar and is not a grotesquely loud monstrosity, but suits the ethos of a small, relatively low-powered roadster.

Appreciate the info and it looks great.

Mine is currently in workshop having a new CAT fitted as that was determined to be the problem with mine. So for now, no new Miltek setup. But will go for it in future.

Shot some footage and put a mic between the two exhaust exits to capture the sound, still got the OEM cat in here so not too rowdy:
