And louder with revs?

If I take it out, can I tell if it's broke?

(Just going to look into the cheaper options, for the source of my noise).
If you take it out you wont get it back in again !!!!

That's what I was thinking.

Will get the sump off this weekend. Repairable?

Depends on the damage. ISTR that Jel squashed a big end by over revving, but the engine wasn't quite the same when the shell was replaced.

If it was an 3S-GTE then i'd say you might just get away with shells, but you're so far outside of the standard engines performance parameters, who know's what the damage is.......

Cheers Lower .. am kinda tempted to drop a 3S in it, if I could get it all the engine mounts lined up proper (think the g'box is the same as the Altezza). I know where I am with them.

Got to nurse it home and then pull it apart.

Yup .. so I'm thinking it's defo bottom end.

Idle - slight tappety noise
low throttle - nothing
throttle - horrid diesel clanging sound
open throttle - can't tell ..
Sounds very much like my blown bottom end last year

Was that on an F20c?
New crank needed?

I'll get the sump off and then have a look at what's what.

Problem with JDM cars, you never know the true history ..
