bit missing

Default bit missing

hi just noticed that the round black thing is missing off the nipple in the center of the pic
can you tell me is it important and what is it for ?

It's a vacuum line that is missing. Check around the intake plenum/throttle body. I'm sure the vacuum line goes from somewhere around there to the part you have in the photo.

Well, on mine, the hose behind it goes in the same side & the missing one goes to another FRED box on the front X-member under the air box.

It's something to do with the air pump or pollution control or something else I cannot recall.

i still haven't got to the bottom of the missing part i went down to stratstone bradford today to try to get the part had a look with the technician at the demo car the part is a round black plastic cap with holes in he didn't know what it is for but you cannot buy the cap on its own i will have to buy the whole assembly at a cost of

not got it on the AP1's (i cant recall seeing this when i had airbox off todo camshalf)

not a clue what it's for, but no doubt will be important for something.
can get vacuum hose from any good parts place, and maybe even halfords at a silly price..

1) All UK cars are AP1 - AP2 is a US version.

2) All UK cars have the vacum control solenoid which is what it is.

3) There is no hose missing - its the plastic top hat / breather which is missing.

look in my sig for link to download owners manual, i know its up to 2003 but i don't think that much has changed.
