Boot Racks - Information
All,
On a roll with topics this morning, I noticed that there has been passing interest in boot racks but the previous suppliers have gone from the market. I had the problem of needing to move mine and the wifes ski equipment to the airport, we only own a Mx5 and the S2000. Having established the other methods of transport were either too expensive or impractical I looked at investing for the longer term in some kit of my own.
My research led me to an Italian company called La Prealpina (http://www.laprealpina.net).
The recommended products for the S2000 are either the "Spring" or "Summer" range, available in a variety of sizes.
I went for the "Summer" Product, Part Number 10155. I suspect that some of the smaller ones will also fit if you wanted a smaller rack on the car.
Not shown in the pictures I also purchased the ski / snowboard accessories that allow much quicker attachment of the ski equipment to the rack.
This is their "Jolly Carving" Product, Part Number 13068.1 (Silver) or 13068 (Black) and you also need the associated fitting kit, Part Number 12066.
I bought the rack from their distributer for UK and Ireland - Micks Garage (http://www.micksgarage.com) but they were unwilling to stock the "Jolly Carving" product so I contacted La Prealpina directly and they were very helpful and sold the kit to me directly (info@laprealpina.net)
I paid £164.00 for the Rack and £105.00 for the other accessories.
