if it does I think the "can't rebuild an F20C" debate should be put to rest once and for all I can't think of a way he'd have done it more accurately or properly

Ben, there have been succesful rebuilds both here and in the states , it’s not rocket science just seems to me needs a bit more are than the average lump, and not done on a garage floor in a mess ! ( in my shed in a mess instead , hmmmmm ) would guess most very modern high tech engines would be as tricky to rebuild but nowadays they just do not get rebuilt the cars land up as scrap. My dad post war had an Austin 7, one engine in , one being in and one out being de coked and new bearings !, other than Audi V8 engines we just don’t Seem to see de cokeing taking place any more let alone re-builds.

One thing toby did Friday was take the timing chain cover off again , we did note the top was a few thou proud of the deck , now if you remember when Gosnay fitted the liners they had to machine the top of the liners flush with the deck taking .0035” of the deck. So the up shot being the cover was proud and might not let the No1 end of the head not fully seating on the gasket. He had .0035” machined of on Friday from the cover,,

Time will tell!

I doubt the failed rebuilds have been done to this standard of care

you’ve scared me with the banjo bolt thing. My original car is 2001 and bought with 1500 miles on, i dunno
if that was done. My SC one has an early engine too from an import..

and there is a big difference...

Notts, I think you can check for recalls on the Honda website.

I know my car had new jet bolts , saw it on the ramp and it had to cool down before the sump was removed as the mechanic did like hot oil dropping on his head !,,

i can’t remeber now, in the mists of time some thing else was done at same time , seat belts or something

Exemplary thread.
keep in mind if I'm not mistaken, the banjo bolt update was only a TSB and in certain countries only.

I'm not entirely sure what people are doing to them on rebuilds. Mine started up and purred like a kitten. even with a block and head skim.
