It slides into the box and bolts to diff, I reckon it was lack of oil

No one likes a dry box!!!

Probably one of those things you forgot about in the excitement of getting everything else up and running.
Yeah gearbox had about 50-100ml of oil in it. Input shaft bearing has welded it's rollers to itself, there's metal shavings and chunks along with a very fine metal paste.

Diagnosis? Terminal.
Rest of the box looks ok but closer inspection shows a story of a lot of heat and some bearing on their last legs, a rebuild is doubtful.

I've been loaned a box until I can source one somehow. Already got it in the car.

Now having coolant issues despite it being perfect on dyno.

Still need to:
Fit anti roll bar with my custom drop links
Make the hole in the bonnet bigger
Make it so the bonnet stays shut
Redesign coolant system
Stop the leak from between water pump and block
Make the power steering pump idler work somehow
Tracking
Tax test insure

Unsure that I'll make it to USC.
I'll try my damned hardest but I can't promise.

Its been a hell of a struggle but with the help of my friends on Wednesday and a very late night by myself last night I've done it!
Got the car tracked today and a pair of michelin pilot sports on the back. Tie rod was bent on one side, spent 2 hours running around trying to source another. Took it it east coast engineering and they straightened it out for me and cleaned up the threads too!

I've put the bigger can back on and so can only achieve around 50% throttle but I can very easily control it at the low end now.
Its still stupidly fast on the pick up whatever gear you're in and that's around 25% overall throttle!

Still have reservations about the power steering pump idler.
More later, peace out!

Ok so, had a great weekend at USC and then ACE CAFE!
Plenty of jaws were dropped and the odd wtf and holy shits we're said haha!

It's not all smiles though there are a few issues to sort.

Clutch fluid needs topping up daily, 99% sure I have a duff slave cylinder, box off job to replace.

Got to look at sorting myself a new gearbox too

Brakes still need bleeding properly, not happy with them.

Need to regain speedo and power steering.

Need to get oil pressure and water temp gauges.

Body work.

Hopefully I can sort the clutch for the mega meet, no chance of getting there if not.

The map needs finishing, the 60-70 cruise needs sorting I recall the guy saying.

Underside needs bracing up, bigger diff needs fitting.

Plenty still to do, not enough time or money to do it.
The car will probably come off the road in a couple of months over the winter so I can address the financial black hole I've created and put myself back into a decent position for the second wave of work.

The main part has been done, it's the finishing parts which take forever now though I know my friends will muck in when I need as they know I'll do the same for them!

A guy at USC did custom airbrushed tops, hats and vests, got him to do a "V8 kicked in yo" top for me, it's awesome!

He did a vest for the Gf with a caddy, he even put the reg on!
I'll get a finished pic of it when we both wear them next weekend, she also got a hat done.

Bit of ace cafe love!
