Brake Linings!
Back in Bristol and reading through the paper work on my MOT fail. It was failed on the plates and nothing else, but it was noted that the rear brake linings were wearing.
What does this mean!!?!! Cheers Nick |
Simply the brake pads are wearing thin/low.
Just different terminology |
A ha!
My rears are low. Going in to have my R4S pads fitted anyway so not a problem! Thanks |
Rear brakes are slightly unusual on the S, in that the piston in the
caliper has to be 'screwed' back in and not pushed when fitting new pads! Russ. |
I will be paying for some one else to worry about this. It means nothing to me!
:D |

Linings more typically referred to brake drums, not the pads for disks.
So whoever wrote it has either been working on cars a long time or doesn't really know enough to write stuff down properly. And just saying 'they're wearing' is pretty poor. It's like saying 'you're using petrol'!!! Need to know current pad-depth and minimum recommended pad-depth. And work out from that how much life they've got left - I wouldn't trust a stealers word on when some work needs doing!!! |
