Default Brake Pads and Discs

As in the title, I'm considering these as well as braided hoses.

I already have EBC Redstuff pads which I fitted last October. I had my car serviced on Friday (36K) and have been recommended I change my pads and discs.

8 months may not seem long for pads but I also need 2 new rear tyres (Goodyear F1 GSD3's) and I only put them on in february this year, so maybe its me that needs to slow down

Should I go for this set up or is there a reasonably priced better alternative?

The car is used for fast road driving and the occasional track experience.

Andy

Performance Friction discs with DS2500 pads would be my top choice!

Not that keen on Redstuff, but I have not technical backing for that statement

I had them on mine just before I sold it, and they were noisy. Not sure if this was a sticking caliper or not, so maybe unfair to blame the EBC's.

I was quite happy with that setup, but to be honest I can't say the disks made much difference. They look good and have taken a lot of abuse, but I'm not sure it was worth the extra cost.

Have you looked at your pads? Garages like to tell you to change your pads when you've got 50% left. Redstuffs have the audible warning bits (unlike the Ferodos) so you're not going to fail to notice.

Bugger, PF only do rear pads for the S, for some reason.

These are bloody good products though.

Do you mean rear discs Mark ? The pads are Ferodo aren't they? I do recall your experience with EBC mate.

Dembo - Are the OEM discs much cheaper than EBC ?

By the way the Honda dealer reckon I have only 15% left on my pads but I'm doing 3000 miles round Europe next month so I want to ensure I'm ok.

Incidentally my 36K service cost me

Julian at Balance Motorsport would not recommend the Redstuff, instead he said hte Yellowstuff were more suited to track work whilst still maintaining good braking at low temps.

I always thought the yellow stuffs were the more track oriented pad, and definitely not for the road.

I think the Ferodos bite a bit better from cold, but redstuffs are fine.

Julian reckons EBC have managed to create a compound which works well at low temps, without destroying discs, and which also operates very well on track. He's keen for someone to try them out to give some feedback. He says too many people take redstuff out on track in heavy crs and wonder why they fade when heavily used.

Big for Julian at BalanceMotor sport:
http://www.balancemotorsport.co.uk/

Before Rockingham, I put EBC Turbogroove disks, Ferodo DS2500 pads and NBM Woolford hoses + Millers Racing Brake fluid....all from Julian.

There are the same discs that Dembo has, but I know someone on here cracked one of these.

Being my first track day I was probably taking it a little easy, but the setup worked really well on a circuit that's hard on the brakes (ask lower or chilled!).

It works great on the road too.
