So after a long delay the clutch is due to be delivered tomorrow, the original quote was not for a Genuine Honda Clutch so I purchased the clutch myself from CoxMotorParts today and paid the extra for Saturday delivery. All being good the clutch should be fitted tomorrow !

Good call ! you don't want to be doing the job twice. If the knock sensor does get damamged Balladesports were doing OEM ones for a fraction of what they cost here http://www.balladesports.com/product...-30530-pcx-003

The car has been stripped already just waiting the delivery tomorrow from DPD, paid the extra to guarantee delivery before 10am. What exactly does the Knock Sensor do? Old Clutch was aftermarket apparently it has been torn to bit, F1 racing clutch, so I guess that they can't be the best built clutch?

Knock sensor listens to the engine to see if there's any problems with ignition (knocking, pinking, misfires, etc) and feeds back to the ECU so it can do somethign about it. Often the sensor is very fragile and comes adrift when you unbolt the gearbox - but if the clutch has been done before then they probabaly knocked it off then

I did wonder if an "uprated" clutch had been fitted and subsequently let go - there are a lot of aftermarket tweaks that have been done by the previous owner(s) and quality may not have been high up their list.

Pleased you have an end in sight - tbh you've not missed much driving weather have you ? What I can say is that the sour taste will soon go once you're back on the road

Think of it this way - Not only do you have a brand new clutch on it's way now, you'll never need to (touch wood) worry about clutch problems in your ownership! Plus you have the knowledge that as you ordered the clutch pack yourself, it's the genuine good quality item, and not some old crap some garage / previous owner fitted. That's one worry off your mind!

How did that not show up on the test drive? Or was it just misfortune it went so soon after you got it?

I think I may have been the very unlucky, performs perfectly on the test drive and on the drive back from Summerset to Milton Keynes. Then just a few days later the Reverse become very stiff, and the I lost the ability to put it into gear unless it was prior to turning the car on :/. Think it may have been the aftermarket clutch that was in the car read on the American forums some peoples worked perfect whilst other just tore up quickly! Thankfully it arrives tomorrow before 10am, paid the extra, the car is sitting ready in the garage all stripped down, so hopefully it wont take them too long to fit it .... not having any previous mechanical background I must admit I am clueless to how long it will take!

Hi Ian,

thanks you very much, is the Honda garage in Milton Keynes any good? I have read some horror stories regarding them, I may nip down tomorrow and buy some oil to replace the clutch with maybe ever engine whilst its up ! Going to have a look through the forums after dinner get some part numbers, are they regularly stocked items do you know?

Thanks in Advance !

Hi Brett

I have never had any problems with Johnsons in MK and have been going there a lot over the years the guy on the parts department is great.

However I now use a little independent guy who is ex Honda, based locally - PM me if you want his details

Update: Car is out of the garage with a new clutch kit fitted. Boy do it make a difference, I didn't realize how bad it was I just thought my Polo was smooth! Feels good to be back on the road, when the rain dies down I will open her up only the 4th time I have driven it yet need to get used to the car before I crank up my driving.... Better safe than sorry

Glad you're sorted. Will keep an eye out for you. Take it easy out there, it's more slippery than you'd think!
