Default Bridgestone S001. run flat or normal

Having read through the tyre thread twice now I still haven't seen if the S001 is better as a run flat or normal on the S.

Can anyone shed any light on it. Bridgestone say run flat but my tyre guy recommended normal tyres.

I'd only use run flats on a car that was designed for them in the first place.

Do you need a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPS) if you have run flats? Not sure if it is an MOT requirement or just a new car thing.

Basically I put normal S001 on the rear and the car now tramlines and moves around when you lift mid corner. The car doesn't feel planted like it did on the RE50. Geo was fine before, was set 3000 miles ago and the tyres have done 300 miles now.

Just wondering if I made the wrong choice and should have gone for the run flat option.

have you checked the tyre pressure since you had them fitted? some garages don't pay a lot of attention to what pressure they fill them up to.

I had the normal S001s fitted in the summer prior to a 1800 mile trip through Spain/Pyrennes and France and can't say I experienced any twitchiness. Rich3 on here also fitted S001 for the same trip and he certainly didn't have any trouble in the corners either.

I would agree with the previous post and check the tyre pressures, had mine set to standard 32 psi.

They were set to 32psi but I have tried 34psi but no different.

The tyre guy has an S but runs yoko's on it. I will get an alignment check done anyways but the car was fi before the tyre change.

I fitted the so1s on the car and experienced a twitchyness at first but after a few hundred miles the car settled down and now it feels fine, don't know why but happy now.

I'm on my 2nd set of S001s - never had any problems, in fact I'd go as far to say they've been the best tyres I've had on the car and that's in comparison to a set of RE11 I used to have. Loads better than the RE50 in my opinion. I have the normal ones so can't comment on the run flats

Thanks guys, it feels more like alignment is slightly out. When changing gear on hard acceleration the car squirms a little when you lift off.
