Default Broken "glovebox" catch

Got in the car last night and opened the glovebox between the seats to open the boot as I had started the car already. When I shut it the catch mechanism made a funny noise and now is loose and rattles around in the casing.

It still shuts, but only if you close it carefully and it is of course annoying me. So, I'm wondering how much it might be to fix and whether I need a whole new door for the glove box?

Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks.

Hmmm - I bought a second hand glove box and surround with the view to changing the surround as mine has scratches. The glove box door on the second hand one is scratched.

Long story short, despite my best attempts to remove the door from the replacement surround, it wouldn't budge. It's held in with expanding pins. So if you do have to replace the door, then good luck

I've had exactly the same (if we're talking about the same thing).

Theres a screw inside the door that holds the mechanism / catch on.

I was looking for something like that but couldn't see it. I will have another good look tonight.

Did you manage to fix yours?
