Default Broken plastic rear screen

Nasty crunch as I powered the top down this afternoon

I knew what I had done straight away and the plastic rear screen has split due to its in-flexibility. I had just driven it out of the garage into the mid day sun not thinking that the recently built garage to protect the S2000 was so f#@king freezing.

So the damage is done whats the best advise to replace and any recommendations of companies that weld new screens in?

Or how hard (and expansive) is it to fit a later glass screen version?

On the bright side the drive to work was fantastic with the top off.

Change it for glass ...... otherwise you will get exactly the same problem again in a few years time.

Peter, my commiserations - the sound it makes is sickening isn't it? I'd only had my car three days when I did the same, and it took me a month to get sorted.

I had mine replaced with the mohair hood and glass screen by a local trimmer here in Somerset. I guess it may have been supplied by CarHoods though as I had the same options available (i.e. no vinyl hood and glass option). The trimmers also said that the suppliers had said it was one of the first.

I'm very pleased so far with the hood. If anything I'd say it looks better than the original and being able to see out the rear is a big bonus. However, the glass screen is physically smaller. Also, whilst the rear screen does have the heater element fitted, the wiring for it won't be in place unless your car is a GT (hardtop) version. Obviously you or a garage could retro fit wiring in if required.

If your handy with the DIY I did see that a plastic hood recently went through everyones favourite auction site without selling for

Not seen them myself, but a couple of people here have replaced from carhood. Shipley is pleased with his mohair version

I have been seeing a few on ebay, 510 was the closing bid for a complete top. DOes anybody have any experience in swapping a complete unit? Is it simple spanner job, I did my spitfire many years ago and that was easy but they never fitted correctly when shipped!
