Default Buckle problem

Hi all,

My S has developed a buckle problem over the last week or so (coming from the front). At first I thought it must be a buckled alloy (I have to drive on a lot of badly pot-holed roads), but the buckle motion comes and goes, for instance when you slow to a stop and carry on again, it disappears. It is getting progressively worse, to the point today where I don't want to drive it until I know what the problem is. The buckle motion appears when driving at a constant speed (can be any speed), and gets worse when you slow or brake, the buckle motion is amplified as you slow to the point where the front is moving quite a lot as you come to a stanstill (under normal braking). Obviously I haven't driven the car hard since this problem started to appear, so haven't been thrashing it. Also, the car has started to pull to the left, hadn't done this previously at all (tyre pressures are fine btw)

Could this be the Wheel Hub nuts problem? Or would a buckled alloy cause this problem? I did a search but didn't turn up much, so if anyone has any ideas on what might be causing the issue I'd be grateful before I go to my dealer.

Done!

Thanks echo66, service is due in 500 miles anyway.

I'm presuming I shouldn't be driving it?

Or it could be a loose balace weight if it's just a shimmy through the steering wheel. I had that on my civic. It comes and goes as it moves around the rim. But prob wouldn't be a problem on these wheels, as the weight isn't attached in the same way.

I know what you mean chris, but this is a lot more severe movement than a shimmy, it feels as if the wheel hub is loose, especially when you slow the car down! It sounds like what echo said, a wheel bearing.
