The thing is that when I bought the S I could afford it, now I can't, it's really that simple. It's just eaten up my disposable income and I don't want that, not even for an S!

sorry to hear this Ryn

But at least you have had the sense to rid yourself of the S before getting into stupid financial difficulties

p.s sell the aeroscreen separately-lets see how many hands it can be passed through

Ryn, sorry to hear this, but its a brave and sensible move. Its a really hard car to give up and I can't believe how attached I've got to my car. I have my car through a company car scheme and I have to contribute a fair bit to get the car, and sometimes I think I should downgrade, get a CTR and get lots of cash back but I'm hooked!

Get your financials sorted and get out there and buy a new one, as Gad has said, I am sure that over the next 1-2 years there will be some great deals to be had.

Thanks everyone for your support, I'm glad you can see the way things are for me. I just annoys me that with the salary i'm earning I don't really have much in the way of savings apart from the house, and don't really have much in the way of disposable income any more. So I think I'll be on the lookout for the best deal to be had on an 03 S in a year or two I think. A yellow one. Then I can add stripes and make it look like a bumblebee.

Forgot to say, I really like the Lupo GTi, great little car, but a little too small. I was interested when I bought a 206 GTi, but the Lupo was too small. I think you should consider a used 172 or CTR, at least with a CTR you retain virtually the same peformance and VTEC

Isn't that a scam doing the rounds ? I'm sure I read a thread about it on here somewhere ?

Tough luck with the car. I was in the same situation a few years ago although not with an S. Had to sell Fiat Coupe to make up deposit on my first house. Got myself a diesel beater and drove that for 2 years whilst things settled down financially. Now I still have the beater and an S too. You may have to sit it out for a while like I did, but I'm sure you'll be back.

P.S. Sell that gameshow idea to Channel 4 and you'll be rolling in it !!!!!!

Sold a car for export to Spain once - mind you - the steering wheel was in the appropriate place from their point of view - and I did have the notes in my hand before I handed over the keys
