Buying my first S2000 - need some help!
Hi Guys,
Long time S2000 lover here, I've finally reached the point where I'll stop admiring them from a distance and buy one of my own.
I've read countless posts on here about buying one, the two better ones being,

I've started looking for one and visited my first today and wanted a little guidance on what is normal/not normal.
The car I looked at this morning had some questionable shut lines on the rear bumper and a suprising amount of silicone around it. I'm unsure if its normal to silicone the exterior of the rear clusters, or the boot floor panel. It also looked like the metal under the rear carpet was black (car is grey), and the rear slam panel was in a primer grey (not body colour).
The trim behind the headrests seemed to have split apart.
The front slam panel middle bolts weren't body coloured.
Anything here to worry about? I've attached some images.
Going to look at some more cars to get a more rounded opinion, but I'd appreciate some help.
The car is a 55 plate with 35k miles for £10,500.

Just so I've got some perspective, is it normal for the colour mismatch (black floor, primer grey panel) inside the boot?
At least then I'll know for next one I see.
Price wise, it's the cheapest I've found for the year! It's slim pickings out there.

That car the very least has suffered from wet boot syndrome , but the mastic around the lights and aerial are a new one . The mastic in the boot certainly doesn't look OEM either . general shut line and fit to rear looks dodgy
It's a lemon !
It's a lemon !
I viewed one in Hereford which was supposedly perfect. Worst example of a car I've ever viewed. Ever. However - go with gut instinct - it was telling me to ignore travelling to the Hereford dog to view but I just wouldnt listen!
Just remember, alot of these have had oversteer moments and lost the battle. There's probably not many that haven't- so rear end repairs will be a common sight. If stuff has been repaired to a high standard, it can be a good thing. But it does seem dear that one

From what you describe it doesn't sound too good to me. From looking at the images, I couldn't see anything on the under bonnet shot in image 5. However, I don't recall the mastic being normal on them in the seams and thats after I've had 2 cars in complete bits. If I recall it should be body coloured and the whole floor pan should always match the colour of the paint, that I am 100% positive about.
To me it looks like its possibly had a rear end shunt and a new boot floor welded in. That would account for the lacquer peel on the aerial as well as the light on the drivers side being full of silicone. Shut lines on the bumper to the body don't look too bad to me, they often come up like that, sometimes for no reason at all and other times due to the bumper being off for some reason.
Has the car had a new roof? It looks blue in the pics? The cracked roll hoop plastic could be due to that, sometimes people remove the roll hoop plastics when it isn't necessary. Otherwise its an indicator that the interior has been out for some reason.
Too many questions in my opinion so if you can't get an honest answer on its history then walk away.
