They are Bi xenon lights not ebay HID lights.

Ive taken my washers off, they looked ugly and I never used them, passed the MOT with flying colours.
again your is a pre 2004 car though, only hid headlights has to have washers fitted according to the link above. due to the fact of the brightness of the lights when dirty can blind other drivers. but i dont think it is on the mot tester list. is it?

IIRC it is one of these conditions where it is a legal requirement to ensure cars PRODUCED with HIDs have washers but there is no subsequent law to ensure they aren't taken off/disabled aftermarket.

Like the bonnet decorations on Jaguars. EU law says Jaguar cannot produce a car with them but nothing to stop you putting one on aftermarket

Its not subject to test exactly.

But it is required by law with HID lamps and you could fall foul of the construction and use regs if you remove them.

As for imports, I would have thought they should have been retro-fitted the same as kph to mph speedos, foglamps etc.

All S2000s of whatever age are fitted with the same type of lights, known as HID, Bi-Xenon, Xenon and no doubt a couple of other names.

European-spec cars have to have washers fitted at the factory due to the European regulations.

Japanese and US-spec cars do not need to have washers fitted for use in those countries.

I'm sure someone can clear up whether they are a requirement for SVA for Japanese-spec inmports into this country. The evidence is that they are not, given the large number of Jap-imports without them.

Hope that clears things up.

Our lights are definitely not Bi-Xenon! Our main beams are Halogens.

I do not particularly mind the headlight washers, I have a dark car though so the rubber seals are far less noticeable. My only gripe is they are useless and get water all over my car after I have cleaned it and accidentally set them off

Bi xenon is a xenon bulb which is used for dipped and main beam, we have xenon dipped and halogen main

IIRC you have two sets of HIDs; one set for the dipped beam and one for the main beam.

Bi-xenon headlights refer to HID/xenon bulbs where the main and dipped beam are produced by the same bulb--similar to twin filament traditional halogen bulbs such as those deginated H4.
