well i just noticed this happening to my roof!??
it is like the plastic edge that somehow wedges into the metal rail has started to come out.. anyone know in detail how this is meant to seat inside the rail enough that it stays there?? or am i looking at having to go to a soft top expert??
any guidance as always much appreciated..
IIRC the piece is a hard plastic that has come out of the retaining clip that runs the length of the beam.
You would need to get the roof to about half way down, then either carefully using a flathead screwdriver push it back in and then close the clip with the screwdriver against it.
Or pull the whole thing out and reset the clip..its literally a piece of metal that is pushed against the roof bar.
After speaking with a few soft top specialists by far the most clued up were monsoon hoods who replied with this:
Hi
All that has happened with this is that the material/plastic sections has slipped out of the retainer.
I suggest that you fold the hood back half way, then you can bend the metal retaining strip outwards which will then release this section completely.
The you can refit this material section by folding the plastic strip back inside the metal lip and then either by hand (if you have strong wrists) close the metal retaining strip once more to grasp the material correctly. If you can't do it by hand, then use something like a plastic mallet to hammer the metal strip back into place.
If you feel that this is beyond your capabilities, don't panic, if you can get the car to us, we'll sort it for you. Should take about 30 minutes so the charge would be about £15 plus the VAT
Kind Regards
