Default Cambelt

I got a letter over the weekend saying that I should book my S in on an urgent basis for a new Cambelt. Bearing in mind that I had this car serviced about 6 weeks ago at the same stealers for my 54k, they said that new plugs were optiona and never mentioned a Cambelt. Now they have written & said that it's urgent & Honda Uk have recommended it.

Anyone else know when a Cambelt should be changed on the S?

And it never needs changing!

Forward a copy of the letter to Honda UK as they are obviously totally incompetent if they think it needs a new belt and shouldn't be allowed to service Hondas.

Grrr, useless feckers!

Wrong. It still needs replacing when it's worn. Done one already.

Why not phone up and book it in and let them tell you it hasn't got one - you can then ask why, who nicked it and why did they send you a letter to get it replaced.

Difficult to get everything right when doing a mailshot froma database.

They would probably do nothing and give you a bill for a cambelt change....

Ignorant tw@ts.

Would you trust them with your car in future? I'd be sceptical.

It shouldn't be difficult when using a database as long as you take the time to get it right.

I think the problem is that they have said that it was urgent and that Honda UK have recommended it. That's false on both counts and sounds like scaremongering to me. Your average Jo(e) would book it in for a change whether it needed it or not.

PS. Turtle -- I didn't know that but it does make sense when you apply logic it to it!
