Can u use optimax fuel
Optimax seems to be the fuel of choice for S2000 owners who can lay their hands on it (it is not as widely available in the north of the country as the south).
It is the highest octain fuel commonly available in the UK. It seems to suit the S2000 well (though I would be lying if I said I noticed any difference when i switched from Super (97RON) to Optimax (99RON I think)

Optimax is higher ocatane (98.6) than normal Super. The F20C loves it
So yes you can use it, I do and many others do. I get a little better mpg on it, but no other differences compared to Super. Though if you want to get the better mpg, try not to mix Super/Optimax.

I only use Optimax - now...
Originally, I went through a stage of using an assortment of different Supers and my car didn't like the chopping and changing (strange idling, lack of VTEC "surge")
I made sure I was as low as possible and filled up on Optimax. I pulled the fuse on the ECU and left it 10 mins. Replaced fuse and a few miles later (I assume the ECU re-learnt its stuff) everything was back to normal.
Optimax also seems to be cheaper than other Supers, by around 5p a litre!

Slightly off-topic but...................
I used to think all petrols were equal - no more. I used to use the stuff they sell at Sainsbury's because it was cheap (in my MX-5 - I get my S2K on monday - oh joy
) I almost ran out one time and was forced to fill up at a proper garage - what a difference. Now I know why the Sainsbury stuff is cheap - because its crap. I never use it now. Any other readers have comments on supermarket "petrol"
