Default This car......

..........never fails to brighten my day.

People can critisise it all they want for lack of power, practicality or whatever but each time i get in & have to drive somewhere other than the commute the fun factor is sky high.

Yesterday. Very early start to get to Sheffield so on the road before the sun starts to lighten the sky. Heavy rain overnight & the roads are damp/wet in places. Getting to Glossop is easy via motorway & then you power up the long drag on Snake & it got the gun all the way. I've heard shedloads of stories about losing it in the wet & it being twitchy to drive. Well, anyone who knows me & has driven with me knows i don't spare the horses & as i drive it everyday i know how she handles intimately. I can 'feel' what the car is doing or wants to do. I know how to set the car up for each bend & all of my work is done well before i get to it. Driving through them is easy in almost any condition if it is set up right first. Smooth & sweet pays dividends.

I blasted over Snake Pass at serious mph & it was fantastic. Able to drift through a couple of open bends & that puts the smile on your face, escpecially with the sun peeping over the horizon. Blasted into Yorkshire with the AEM wailing like a stuck pig. Cracking fun.

Fast forward to this lunchtime & i have to make a hi-speed dash at lunchtime to my folks. Normally a 25-30min drive one way. Did it in a tad under 20mins along motorways so total time was 1 hour inc 15-20mins of waffle. Coming back just before joining the M6 & white van man decides he wants to race. Not even worth the effort but you do don't you. Dropped it a couple of pegs on entry into a roundabout & started to feed the power on as i felt the back end begin to slide on the apex. Must have looked pretty good as it felt awesome! Don't know where WVM ended up. Dissapearred somewhere a long way behind me.

A cracking car. Just needs the gear stick stirring now & again.

I drove 800 miles over the weekend and loved it. Revs constantly above 4000RPM, closer to the 5000 mark and it never missed a beat.

Blasting out of some of the round-abouts the V-tec engagement seemed louder than normal after spending several hours at high speeds........and the noise is bliss.

Dropping down to 4th on several occasions and letting the rev counter slowly arch itself over the Speedo is still just such fun.

I'll truly miss my car when its sold

Love the car - truly the best I've ever had the pleasure of driving, let alone, owning!

Be careful about saying you know the car intimately though.........see what happened to Horza (albeit he had a little help from his rear - so to speak!).....
