Default Car Jacking

Considering the news at the moment is full of stories concerning people being forced to hand over keys, to their pride and joy. Does anybody out there think that there is a market for S2000

I am kinda hoping that we are a bit too unusual to be a regular target, but I guess we are a risk because we are a convertible.
I haven't changed anything in how I drive/lock up/roof up etc but I do ensure that I know at least roughly where I am going and where I pass through on my way, hopefully avoiding the more problematic areas.

You're not paranoid if they are really after you.

But lets hope they are not

this is one of the reasons im probably going to fit the clifford concept 600

it has their blackjax feature - sounds cool

BlackJax 4 provides a safe and effective means of recovering your vehicle after a theft or
carjacking. In a carjacking situation, the sooner you are out of the car the better. Don

If somebody pulls a gun on me for the car they can have it.

I try not to go into cities with my car so hopefully the risk is low.

I think you're wise to be aware of potential problems, Penny; that's not paranoia. It's a shame but, in the light of this stuff going on in certain parts of the country, I guess you have to apply the same rules to driving as you would to walking - i.e. you wouldn't walk alone through some urban areas, go down alleys, etc. etc. I know I get nervous when I'm going through certain parts of the West Midlands and definitely wouldn't do it top-down.

As to car-jacking specifically, I do have RAC Trackstar fitted so, if some gits say, "get out and hand over the keys" I can do so calmly and quickly and then, when they've driven off, just make one phone call and the police will be on top of them within a very short time

Thats why I got the Clifford 600 installed on mine, works very well. Doors lock after you get above 4000 RPM, if someone opens the door (would have to smash the window and unlock it first) then they would have to put the code in after about 30 seconds. If they don't put the code in, then the brake lights flash (warning cars behind) then the alarm goes off, then when they drop under 2000 RPM the car stalls, by which time I will have called the police and hopefully they will have a good chance of catching them, lets just hope they introduce tougher sentancing for um, mobile phone thieves probably get longer at the moment.

of course criminals don't care if owning a firearm is illegal or not...that's why we law-abiding citizens are always on the losing end.
Yes, essentially they are (licences are available for shotguns)..........however, you hit the nail on the head Mingster - some lowlife who is going to threatening you with a firearm to steal your car (or whatever) is hardly going to be troubled by the legality or otherwise of the gun

PS - I see a large, 'catering sized' can of very wriggley worms opening here

you've got it spot on Rich, the criminals have no qualms about using any and all means to get what they want but we (and the Police) are practically powerless to defend ourselves, loved ones and property without incurring worse punishment than the criminal

You are right. This is an unbelievably ridiculous situation which is getting worse and worse.
The penalties are negligible, the rewards huge. Can those in power not see how this is going to escalate ?
And they're more interested in enforcing the speed limit ...
